Become a Food Recipient Partner

Gotham Food Pantry is committed to advancing food justice by delivering nutritious food to underserved communities throughout New York City. We work closely with community organizations, public housing resident councils, faith-based groups and local leaders to ensure that food reaches those who need it most. If your organization is interested in partnering with us as food distribution site, we invite you to join our mission.

Why Partner With Us?

Partnering with Gotham Food Pantry means more than just receiving food donations—it’s about creating a sustainable food system that uplifts your community. By becoming a food recipient partner, you’ll play a vital role in:

  • Improving Health and Nutrition: Provide your community with access to fresh, nutritious food that supports overall well-being and helps prevent diet-related diseases.
  • Strengthening Community Bonds: Foster connections among residents, local leaders, and organizations through shared efforts to address food insecurity.
  • Supporting Environmental Sustainability: Help reduce food waste by rescuing surplus food that would otherwise go to waste, contributing to a healthier planet.

What Do We Offer?

As food distribution site, your organization will receive regular deliveries of surplus food, including fresh produce, dairy products, baked goods, and non-perishable items. We tailor our deliveries to meet the unique needs of your community and can work with you to coordinate distribution events that best serve your residents.

Our team is dedicated to making the partnership process as seamless as possible. We provide:

  • Reliable Food Deliveries: Consistent, high-quality food donations from trusted food retailers and donors.
  • Customizable Distribution Plans: Flexible delivery schedules and tailored food selections to meet the specific needs of your community.
  • Ongoing Support: Guidance and resources to help you manage food distribution, including training on food safety and best practices for community outreach.

Success Stories

Partnering with Gotham Food Pantry has brought a reliable food source to partners to George Washington Houses and the surrounding community of East Harlem. We now have access to healthy, free food sources 24 hours a day. This is a trusted resource that does not require people to wait in long lines or fill out endless paperwork. It also allows our community to expand their palate by introducing new foods that would otherwise be cost-prohibitive. The food donors are aiding their community as well as the environment, with less food ending up in landfills. Beyond the healthy food we receive, our community fridge fosters a sense of community that works together to meet the needs of the people. It offers volunteer opportunities to youth and others alike. We have a community of neighbors helping neighbors, which unites and builds trust with one another through a healthy and reliable food source.

As a lifelong New Yorker, I never realized that so many people, including many of my friends and neighbors, experience food insecurity on a daily basis. That is why the Dyckman Houses are so grateful for the commitment and generosity of Gotham Food Pantry. There is enough food in this city to feed every resident a hundred times over. Gotham Food Pantry is building a better, healthier, more equitable New York City one meal at a time.
